The client's satisfaction with Beca has resulted in an ongoing contract to provide consultancy services on a number of capital works planned for 2009.
GELITA Liaoyuan Gelatine was established by GELITA GmbH, a large German-based company specialising in the manufacture and distribution of gelatine products worldwide. GELITA started the JV with a local Chinese partner in 2005, and eventually bought over the 100% shares in 2007.
Beca Industrial was engaged to provide consultancy in quality monitoring and quality control on a Wastewater Treatment project for the GELITA Liaoyuan plant in Jilin Province, North China. Joining partway through the project their scope included civil & structural and mechanical & electrical services, however this also extended to assisting with project management.
The project had been delayed for a number of reasons. Beca's success at resolving complex contractual issues on similar projects for the GELITA Cangnan & Pingyang sites in South China was therefore instrumental in supporting the client in advancing this project. Beca's Industrial team was experienced in addressing the challenges of communication, language and cultural differences, working with Chinese authorities, as well as understanding the differences in contractual codes and practices between Western and Chinese companies. In addition Beca was able to draw on advanced technical knowledge and previous experience in recommending quality products to provide the client with solutions which could meet their needs.

These include assisting GELITA in the design, construct and test-commission or upgrade of various components of the plant, including heat exchangers, water supply systems, pulp washer tanks and cooling towers.
