Ascendas is a premier developer and manager of premium business and hi-tech space in Asia. One of their major new developments is the S$700 million Hangzhou Ascendas IT Park, aiming to be a high-class software park in the capital of Zhejiang Province in China.
Located in the heart of the Hangzhou Economic Development Area (HEDA) it will cover approximately 43 hectares. When completed, it is expected to house a working population of 30,000 to 50,000 people, and offer a vibrant work-live-play concept similar to Ascendas' other IT parks in Asia.
Beca was engaged to provide project management and advisory mechanical & electrical engineering services for Phase 1 stage 1 of the project. The work scope included defining M&E standards, reviewing the local design institute construction drawings, and co-ordinating with the client during the tender and construction stages.
The main challenge Beca faced on this project was the need to supply adequate M&E provisions to cater for all kinds of tenants in a fast-growing IT environment. In addition, the team had to design M&E systems during Phase 1 Stage 1 that would also cater for Phase 1 Stage 2.
Beca's wealth of experience and knowledge in project management and M&E systems contributed to the client being able to meet their overall programme.
