Quay Park One - BNZ Building

Situated in a prime position in Auckland's CBD, the BNZ building demonstrates the benefits of implementing a design focused on environmentally-friendly principles.
Quay Park One - BNZ Building

Quay Park One was the first office building to be constructed in Auckland with a 5-Star Office Design NZ GreenStar rating. Beca provided the building services, fire engineering and environmentally sustainable design (ESD) advice on both the base building and tenant fitout to this award-winning project situated on a 2,134m2 site between Britomart and Vector Arena on the CBD fringe.

The building was originally designed to achieve a 4 Green Star rating based on the Australian Green Star system. During construction, the NZ Green Star tool was launched and then BNZ came on board as tenants and expressed a desire to occupy a 5 Green Star building. Beca and the rest of the team rose to the challenge, upgrading the building’s specification during construction to achieve this reputable accreditation.

The five-storey building has a rentable area of 7917m2, comprising predominantly office space with some retail banking and café areas. High levels of daylight penetration and thermal comfort provides the bank tenant with a high quality internal environment for their staff while minimising the use of energy, water and other resources.

Features of Quay Park One include:

  • Energy efficient air conditioning and lighting
  • Extensive metering of water and electricity consumption
  • Dedicated showers, lockers and bike racks for cyclists
  • Low water usage fittings including waterless urinals
  • A rainwater recovery system providing water for toilet flushing.
