"Beca’s knowledge resource is its most valuable asset - experience and competency breeds confidence and enthusiasm"
As Senior Architectural Designer with the Tauranga-based architecture team, Paul’s role includes job management, work package management, design and documentation. He also provides internal team support for information technology, health and safety and Beca’s knowledge management software.
Paul offers architectural experience drawn from over 20 years work in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom. During his seven years in the UK, Paul ran small architectural teams and also managed large design teams for external consultants.
Since joining Beca in 2008, Paul has had the opportunity to work alongside consultants from various disciplines, broadening his architectural knowledge and developing valuable professional relationships. He helped with the design and documentation for new and refurbished rail maintenance facilities for the Passenger Vehicle Maintenance Depot Redevelopment in Wellington. For the Yap Memorial Hospital Refurbishment in Yap Island, Federated States of Micronesia, Paul did design work such as identification of key materials and methods as well as specifications for refurbishment and new-build works.
Beca has enabled Paul to diversify into new market sectors including rail buildings, data centres, hospital and brewery which compliments existing experience in multi story buildings (up to 31 stories), education, hotels, retail and mixed use building shell and fit outs as well as commercial and industrial buildings and low rise residential communities.
“Beca has a history of consistent growth and exploration into emerging market sectors,” he says. “We continue to broaden our experience while seeking to minimise risk; I think that’s very attractive to clients.”
