"Once you complete one project at Beca, another more challenging project is ready to be assigned to you."
Leif enjoys variety and likes to become involved at any stage of a project, from the initial client application to the selection of consultants, management of the consent processes, procurement, construction and finally the handover of the project to the client.
He began his career as a civil engineering designer and then moved to a site engineering role. In 2001, Leif joined Beca as a project manager, focussing mainly on building projects.
One of his key projects at Beca was managing construction contracts on the Albany Junior High School project. Leif enjoyed this fast tracked project, thriving on the challenge of working on overlapping design and construction activities. Leif was also a project manager for the expansion of the international terminal at Auckland Airport.
Leif believes Beca's strength is in the calibre and quality of its people – a strength that benefits our clients. "To receive support and expertise across a whole range of fields is essential for project managers," he says. "Project managers cannot be experts in all engineering fields. However, at Beca, we know we have a wealth of knowledge and experience at hand when we need it."
