"At Beca we are proud of our New Zealand heritage and service to our local clients - and bold enough to pioneer and thrive in international markets."
Standing in the newly completed, lofty eight storey atrium of Pacific Place Jakarta, Neil felt the immense personal satisfaction of being part of a team shaping the built environment. This landmark 450,000m2 mixed use development is one of many large complex building engineering projects Neil has worked on during his career. The significance of this development to Neil is that it was his first major project with Beca after joining the firm in early 2005.
The project went on to win a Merit Award from the Association of Consulting Engineers New Zealand. "We invited our client and his family to New Zealand to attend the awards dinner, and were able to share in his delight at the recognition of delivering this first class development," he says.
Neil has been developing structural engineering solutions in Europe, South-East Asia and New Zealand for more than 20 years. He is a Technical Director of Beca and manages the Commercial Structures team in Auckland, a position he has held for five years.
His role involves technical leadership and directing large projects and he maintains a diverse spread of client relationships both in New Zealand and internationally. He has enjoyed particular success delivering projects in Jakarta, Indonesia and is currently working on his third large mixed use development there.
In New Zealand Neil has led the structural engineering team on a variety of projects including Kings College Design Technology Building, Manukau Hospital expansion and the recently completed New Lynn railway station, part of the New Lynn Rail Trench project.
