Stewart has been with Melbourne’s Industrial Group since joining Beca in 2000. As Section Head, he manages the 36 strong team, visits clients, writes proposals and resources projects on a day-to-day basis; along with his financial and recruitment responsibilities.

In addition to this general managerial role, Stewart project directs and manages a number of industrial developments. Significant projects include the Consolidated Meat Group project in Rockhampton and the Southcorp Winery project; with Stewart taking the Lead Electrical Engineer role in both. Despite extremely tight timeframes, the team managed to remain focussed and worked together well to achieve the deadlines on both projects.

Beca’s continued investment in its people has given Stewart many opportunities to progress his professional career. Completing the nine month Integrity Selling course was a turning point in his career, increasing his awareness for communication skills in the engineering consulting industry. Stewart now facilitates this course through out the Australian business.

“Through the course, I was able to improve my ability to interface with both management and clients. Not only did this help me to improve the communication within my team it also helped us to increase our efficiency and productivity”, he says.

Stewart also participated in the Leadership Development Programme, where he appreciated the opportunity to forge valuable networks within the wider Beca community.
