Beca’s Beijing office opened in 2003. Almost all of its 61 employees are Mechanical and Electrical engineers.
The team has delivered projects, which are primarily in office/hotels/retail and mixed developments, in at least 20 locations in China. These include Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Dalian, Qingdao, Suzhou, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Sanya, Lanzhou, Xian, Guiyang, Huizhou and Huhehaote.
Some of our more high-profile projects include a mixed development in Shanghai for Guccoland (500,000sqm), the 100,000sqm Huapu office building, Capital Tower (100,000sqm), Guocoland Dongzhimen Mixed Development (600,000sqm), CapitaRetail Development in Xian, Ruqi Buiding Chongqing, and Wanda Properties Sanya resort hotel.
The relatively young team enjoys a busy but friendly and supportive work environment. “Trust + Teambuilding + Teamwork" is their motto, reflecting an approach which is also evident in Beca offices all around the world. The team works hard but still makes time to socialise together – the office social club organises outings such as dinners, karaoke, ski trips and games days throughout the year.
Working in Beijing gives you the opportunity to take advantage of everything this fascinating city has to offer. A city that has been inhabited for thousands of years, the modern and historical are now combined in this 21st century city.
You’ll still find plenty of evidence of tradition: teahouses, temple fairs and the Peking Opera. Pockets of historical charm survive, especially along Beijing's characteristic hútòng, the maze of narrow alleys that shelters the city’s delightful courtyard architecture. Domestic and foreign visitors come to wonder at the sights - Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City, part of the Great Wall, and the Temple of Heaven.
But Beijing also has much in common with any other great metropolis in the world. You’ll find towering skyscrapers, busy shopping malls and an endless stream of traffic.
Winers and diners are spoiled for choice in Beijing’s inventive bar and restaurant world and gourmet Chinese restaurants offer the very best of the eight different styles of Chinese cuisine. Nightlife is equally varied - traditional performances such as the Beijing Opera, acrobatics and martial arts to modern ones including concerts, ballroom dancing, pubs and clubs.
