Sponsorship
Beca has provided services, time and funding to numerous universities in New Zealand as well as a number of local primary schools. Corporate sports teams are supported (eg dragon boat racing) as well as individuals who specifically fundraise by completing sporting events, or by supporting those that participate in events.
Beca has committed as lead sponsor for the Beca Heritage Week in Christchurch for the last two years and SCAPE. Taking the opportunity to bring international art to New Zealand, Beca was the patron for the Da Vinci Machines Exhibit enabling it to tour the country in 2007/08 and also sponsors various client and professional events.
Beca has provided pro-bono engineering advice to Karori Wildlife Sanctuary in Wellington since it opened in 1995. Other pro-bono work to name a few includes Engineers Without Borders (Mentors for Tonga Water Resource Project), Kaiaraara Dam Restoration Project (Great Barrier Island - site inspection and workshops), and engineering advice to Lonnie Hutchinson’s proposal for the draping of a giant Lei over the Christchurch memorial arch.
Sustainability
As a member of the New Zealand Business Council for Sustainable Development, Beca has developed and implemented its own internal sustainability policy and strategy, and formed dedicated multidisciplinary teams who provide a wide range of services to help manage client’s sustainable business needs.
We believe in a collaborative approach, using our various technical skills with the aim of providing our clients with good solutions. Our business and project sustainability skills and experience are many. Amongst others, our services range from environmental management systems and environmental foot printing to sustainable procurement and green building design; from energy management and process optimisation to environmental and social due diligence.
