Photogrammetry

Beca has photogrammetric and digital mapping specialists who produce accurate orthophotography, digital terrain mapping and 3D visualisaton.

Photogrammetry - Waikato River, New Zealand.

By sourcing existing aerial photography flown for local authorities, the team can obtain images for use with scheming, coarse ground models and site and route selection, thereby reducing time delays. Project specific flown photography for digital terrain modelling is used for new infrastructure projects. These images are then used for producing the Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and the final detail within orthophotos (true to scale) digital imagery.

Used in conjunction with aerial photography, the production of orthorectified (true to scale) imagery is a powerful visual aid in the process of site selection, public consultation, and for managing site movement. It is also an excellent tool for the consultation design processes.

Digital aerial photographs make it possible to capture different information at different stages of the project life-cycle, and support the cost effective collection of ground data to suit project requirements.
