With a team of over 40 geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists, backed by our in-house soils testing laboratory, Geotest, Beca provides geotechnical advice to commercial, industrial and infrastructure clients in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and South East Asia.
Beca's geotechnical services include the planning and overview of geotechnical site investigations, option studies for foundations, designing foundations, piles and retaining walls, assessing and upgrading slope stability, geological mapping, pavement design, hydrogeology and hazard studies. These services can be employed in the early stages of a project to assist decisions on cost impacts and conceptual design.
Many project locations have widely variable ground conditions, even within the footprint of a development site. Geotechnical input can be used to improve proposed developments, allowing clients to make informed decisions on the balance between cost and risk.
Beca has a proven track record in providing options to assist in using the natural materials available. Examples include the invention and use of 'mudcrete' at ports for reclamation fill and the crushing of 'coral boulders' to form an effective aggregate for use in runway reconstruction in remote island locations.
