Richard Aitken is currently interim Chief Executive as well as Chairman of Beca Group. Richard has been with Beca for over 40 years during which time he has fulfilled the chief executive role for over 15 years.
Richard brings to the role his experience in running Beca businesses, engaging in Beca projects not only in NZ but also in the Pacific, Asia and Australia and playing a key role in growing Beca to the major consulting business it is today.
He is also involved in external organisations such as the Institution of Structural Engineers (UK) of which he is the New Zealand representative; is on the Trust Board of the Power Engineering Excellence Trust, which promotes power engineering in New Zealand; and represents Beca on the New Zealand Business Council for Sustainable Development.
Of particular importance to Beca has been its alliances with international partners which Richard has led and maintained. These alliances have allowed Beca to take part in a number of major projects and work in other major consortiums in different contractual models.
Richard's work ethic is demonstrated by a favourite saying "do what you say you are going to do."
